Description

The Ghost pepper stole the world record when it took the world by surprise in 2007. Even though the Ghost pepper is no longer the hottest pepper in the world, it’s still one of the most popular peppers. Its popularity could possibly be due to its amazing taste which has caused a cult-like following.   The name Ghost pepper comes from the pepper’s official Indian name, the Bhut Jolokia. Bhut in Indian means “ghost.”

It is wrinkly and pointy, and has a very fruity flavor that kicks in almost immediately after consumption. The extreme heat builds up for several minutes and eventually creates a powerful endorphin rush. It held the world record with Guinness from 2007-2012 and was eventually, the Ghost pepper was beaten by the Trinidad Butch T Scorpion in 2012. Still one of my favorite peppers.

Use For: Sauce or salsa! Powder, chili, and would be amazing in a fruit-based salsa.
