Description
This variety comes from the early 1800’s, from John Oliver of Washington County, Arkansas. Oliver is a striking red apple with large, distinctive dots, or lenticels, over the skin’s surface. It was a very popular local variety and was widely grown in the Ozarks. In 1895. Valued for its size, high quality and long keeping abilities. It is medium to large with thick, smooth, glossy yellow skin overlaid with rich-red and streaks of a darker red. It has large, light colored dots over its skin. Fine-grained yellowish flesh, that is juicy and often stained with red. Ripens October to November and is an excellent keeper.
