An early-season and amazing peach. Very similar to Redhaven, but a little bit smaller and less tangy than other peach varieties. A sensational-tasting, yellow-fleshed pie and cobbler peach, which comes off the pit easier if sliced rather than halved. Good for freezing and canning, too. This variety grows well from the Northeast all the way to the deep South. Believe it or not this one is more cold hardy than Redhaven, so there’s less chance of bud-kill.
Blooms late to avoid spring frosts.
Disease-resistant to leaf spot.
Freestone.
Originates from South Haven, Michigan in 1930, introduced in 1940. .
