You Will Love The Abundant Crop of Native Nuts
The American Hazelnut is a prolific producer of tasty nuts that are well-suited for most gardens.
The American Hazelnut starts to bear fruit around 1 to 3 years after planting. At around 5 years it’s producing up to 25 pounds of sweet, nutty nuts!
Often disguised as a small tree, this native species can get about 18 feet high with long outward-extending stems but can be maintained much more modestly.
Its lush green leaves are round and jagged on the edges with fine, fuzzy hairs on both sides. It has gorgeous Fall foliage that is bright and colorful in fall, ranging in shades of rusty violet to golden yellow.
